Dr. Cat Davison, MRCGP MBChB MA FRGS
Dr. Cat Davison, Wing Commander (retired), is a Senior Medical Leader renowned for her ability to inspire and implement change across global operations. As the Regional Medical Director, she operates in high-threat and austere environments, designing, innovating, and implementing medical capabilities at pace, ensuring clinical excellence through her leadership.
With a distinguished 21-year career in the Royal Air Force (RAF), Dr. Davison began as a General Practitioner (Family Physician) and quickly advanced to leadership roles, gaining extensive experience in challenging and remote environments such as Afghanistan, Somaliland, and Libya. Her journey includes serving as a medical planner at the UK Military Operational HQ, supporting military operations in Afghanistan and Africa, and providing critical support during the COVID-19 pandemic for UK military operations overseas.
As a Staff and Command trained officer, she commanded the Tactical Medical Wing. In this role, she led a unit of over 160 members, demonstrating her ability to rapidly deploy medical capabilities worldwide within 12 hours' notice. She served as the Deputy Force Medical Officer for the United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS), where she was commissioned to review CASEVAC operations by the Special Representative of the Secretary-General.
Dr. Davison's military career reached its pinnacle when she served as the Executive Officer to the Deputy Commander (3*) of the RAF. In this role, she was instrumental in supporting strategic planning and the implementation of radical change programs.
Her ability to distil complex subjects into simple messages has been a cornerstone of her success, making her an effective communicator, negotiator, and leader in diverse and politically charged environments. Her mantra, 'High-Quality Simplicity,' encapsulates her approach to leadership.
Outside her professional achievements, Dr. Davison is committed to mentoring fellow medics and enjoys snowboarding. She is also an endurance athlete, having completed, amongst several events, the gruelling Marathon Des Sables, a 250 km footrace across the Sahara Desert, considered one of the toughest races on Earth. She has taken people up Mount Kilimanjaro and supported many extreme sports events. From these experiences, she has learned anyone can achieve anything.
